We made it. To a 100 day countdown, and I assure you, we will be counting down. Shane is soooo excited he gets to quit his job. I would be too!

106 days and counting

Our new packs

Our new packs

Here we are three months and eighteen days away from the start of our trip. We've bought our backpacks, our shoes, our airplane tickets and just today we received out rail passes. We're very excited, the first thing I said to Shane at 12:00am Jan 1 2011 was "WE'RE GOING TO EUROPE THIS YEAR!" And that just about sums it up. For anyone who reads this looking for numbers, I'll try to keep on top of it, because I'm always very curious as well.

$3300 - eurorail global pass, one first class adult, one youth
$2900 - airfare, round trip from vancouver for two people
$300 - a 65L and 70L backpack (on sale!)
$160 - two pairs of walking shoes
$26 - two medium sized travel towels
$20 - a electrical converter/adapter
$20 - an swiss army knife with a corkscrew, lid lifter thing and a knife
$20 - headlamp, don't ask

Crazy when you put it like that. We've got a lot to do before we leave, renewing travel insurance, fitting a wardrobe, getting credit cards, and a major one is finding affordable gore-tex jackets that fold up really small. We need to find transportation to the airport, finish highlighting our travel books, I need to sew some sleep sheets and sew canadian flags on our packs.
